Needful things?

Filed under: Web, bit's & pieces

Well, the part that I didn’t need is here.

Now, I need more parts that I don’t need… :-o

Now I need a pressure plate, new clutch springs and caps for the spring. *phew* that was one _cheap_ clutch cover!!

Maybe I’ll just install it when I have all the parts?

Sigma

Filed under: Ducati, bit's & pieces

Installed the sigma ‘computer’. It’s mainly there because of the clock, and as a bonus it gives accurate speed and distances.

Here’s a few pics.

Mounted on a piece of aluminum, which is attached to the speedo.

Also got this; Made by BikeLift.

Bling bling

Filed under: Web, bit's & pieces

Got a good tip on a nice looking clutch cover.

Aluminium, CNC machined. Very good looking.

Also, by the same company:

Here’s a link to the website.

They sell these on German ebay.

Using an open cover means that the original pressure plate and springs/caps can’t be looking ugly and rusted.. –> more $$$

Boots

The boots are here.

Oxtar TCS Sport Gore Tex.

Chain cleaning

Filed under: Ducati, bit's & pieces

Cleaned the chain today. Also added my furry dice, something everyone should have.. my way of hiding the corroded front brake reservoir cap.

Before and..

..after.

Didn’t even take long, there’s some rust still. but it’s better now. Found also some gearbox oil, I’m going to use that se preliminary lubing, later on I will probably start using them waxes and other stuff from a spray bottle. Did I write somewhere about trying to find Maxima chain wax? I guess I did.. well, no luck in Finland, can’t be shipped from the US (pressurised container etc.) Found it from Sweden, but the cost of getting it over here is too much.. I would have to order maybe 10 cans, then it wouldn’t raise the unit price that much and I am not planning on being a chain lube retailer…. I know I could sell a few to friends and such but.. still.

To clean the chain I used lamppuöljy, what is that in english???

The ‘furry dice’ (maybe I should find some nice Brembo or Ducati patch to sew on there? naaah… hifistelyä..)

Summer’s itinerary

It’s starting to fill. :-D Yesterday I booked lodging for the annual Italianbike’s meeting for May. Gotta remember to register the Ducati before that..!

The other, a bit bigger booking I made today. I reserved flight tickets and a rental car to World Cup 2006. Tickets for one game should arrive later in the spring. The tickets were acquired already last September through the ballot organised by the Organising Committee of WC2006/FIFA.

On the subject of flight tickets/Ryanair. It’s great that they offer cheap tickets, but I don’t like the fact that the prices vary every week, or almost every day. This time I got them for EUR 20 one way + taxes and such. For a long time the prices were in the range of EUR 60 - 150 one way.. I almost gave up the hope of getting them cheap. For once my patience paid off.

On the subject of motorcycles/racing, Nürburgring is only 30 km away from the place we are staying in, so might as well go there, even if I don’t get a chance to drive around the track.. I don’t think the rental company would like the idea of me driving their car around the Nordschleife. Maybe some othertime, with the Ducati.. :-o

Meanwhile, check these stories out, good pictures and stories about trips to the ‘Ring. Also brings out the aspect that it’s not always fun and games around the track..

Speedo cable

Filed under: Ducati, bit's & pieces

Maybe I should check my speedo cable.. –> clicketyclick. I *think* I checked it when installing the wheel but hey, why not check it again. I can’t even begin to guess what the cable costs at the local spareshop.
