season start

After recovering from the technical KO, it’s time to ride. Well, some assembly is required first. This picture was taken _after_ the throttle bodies, the airbox, air ducts, battery tray and the fairing front piece were mounted.

Getting there. I removed the aftermarket airfilter, which was the type that goes on top of the air funnels. This means that there is dirty air in the air box, and it has access to the breather in the crankcase. Luckily the cranckcase breather has a reed valve in it, if I remember correctly. The original air filters will do the job now.

Note to self: when assembling bike together, make sure all electrical connections are connected. The bike will not start, if the throttle body connector is not connected.

The first 30 km’s done. If weather permits, more will be done tomorrow.

She needs to be cleaned. I also need to bleed the brakes, both front and rear. The front is a bit mushy and I think the rear is suffering from the same as last summer, the brake was nonexistent. I think that the fact that the reservoir and M/C are so close to the engine, that it heats the fluid and builds air in the system (?). After bleeding it, it was great.

Memories from last year.

Technical KO

Filed under: Ducati, bit's & pieces

The bikes in a shop having valve clearance job done on it, during which a further 3 rockers were found faulty.

After changing the half moons on the intake side of the rear cylinder, I thought it’s going to be one major PITA to change all of them, let alone adjust the clearances. I don’t have the necessary tools for that job, either(or perhaps the skills…). And I want to ride this summer, too. So, I called the local shop, to find out if they have time to the job, and a little over a week later they did. During that, 3 more rockers were found to be bad. So I went and picked them up and put them in the mail to Ben, again. I am hoping to get the plated ones back this week, so _maybe_ the shop has time to finish the maintenance, so I can start riding. :-)

sorry no pics.
